A MID 15TH CENTURY OAK ROOF OR HAMMER BEAM ANGEL, EAST ANGLIA, NORFOLK, CIRCA 1450. Henry VI period Oak flat back roof or hammer beam angel, with finely carved face and hair detailing, clothed in a simple tunic, the arms and hands clasped as in prayer above a semi-circle of interlaced clover leaves, a more typical East Anglian / Norfolk design. With high colour and surface patination, 43cm high. Provenance - An important English private collection.
