A CASED SET OF TWELVE VICTORIAN SILVER TEASPOONS AND MATCHING SUGAR TONGS, cast with crown finials held aloft by female nudes, their lower halves forming the scrolled handle, gilt bowls, makers Holland, Aldwinkle & Slater, London 1901, approximate weight 10.9ozt, 340 grams, in a silk and velvet lined cased labelled for 'H. Greaves, New St. Birmingham' Provenance: A hand written piece of paper with the set states that it was commissioned for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee as a gift from Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Asaf VI but was rejected by the gift committee due to the erotic nature of the casting however as the Diamond Jubilee was in 1897 it is unlikely to be correct (condition: one spoon has lost most of the gilding others have varying amounts of wear, no gilding on the tongs)
