A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss, by Barbar, c 1770, 29½” overall, 2 stage swamped barrel 14½” with London proofs and “IB” maker’s mark; plain signed rounded lock with swan neck cock, unbridled frizzen and swivelling safety catch engaging on the base of the cock; walnut fullstock with carved apron around the breech tang and plain brass mounts including large escutcheon, openwork sideplate, baluster ramrod pipe, and with brass button tipped ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition, dark patina to lock. Plate 4
