Manzuoli was a renowned copyist working in 19th century Florence, creating versions of earlier masterpieces presumably catering to the thriving market for Grand Tourists. It is possible that the present lot originates from his workshop. This picture is after Rosa's circa 1640-50 composition at the Palazzo Pitti.
