Previously inscribed on the reverse "Ox of Irish breed, 4 years old - grazed at Shotford Hall, owned by John Beaumont, killed by George Chase of Harleston, Dec.16th 1854, weighed on bridge after 2 fasting days 168st 14lbs. Dead weight of carcass to butcher 116st 8lb fat" before relining. 54.6cm x 64.6cm. Set in a burr maple frame (loose). Images include previous Christies catalogue entry before being withdrawn from sale by the vendors late father and the previous label verso.
