A very large Napoleon III pier mirror by Charles Francois Nosotti, within an ornate gilt gesso frame, the cornice modelled as Poseidon flanked by mythical creatures, above scrolled corbels and openwork surround with fruit decoration, acanthus scrolls and further figural embellishments.

Condition report: Various cracking and minor losses to surround, evidence of previous restoration. Requires re-gilding. Mirror plate is original. Manufacturer’s label verso. Previously from a stately home in Yorkshire.
