The Morris Minor debuted at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, more than 1.3 million were manufactured between 1948 and 1972 in three series: the MM (1948 to 1953), the Series II (1952 to 1956) and finally the 1000 series (1956 to 1971). Initially available as a two-door saloon and convertible, the range was expanded to include a four-door saloon in 1950, a wood-framed estate, the Traveller from October 1953 and panel van and pick-up truck variants from May 1953. It was the first British car to sell over one million units and is considered a classic example of automotive design, as well as typifying "Englishness".
This lovely 1959 Morris Minor was fully restored by Charles Ware's Morris Minor centre in 1999, and has been cherished ever since. The exterior is said to be first class throughout, with just a few small blemishes. Everything was repaired and replaced in 1999 and remains in very good condition. The smoke grey paintwork is excellent, and the chrome is good too, but there is a small dent on the rear bumper blade. Inside, the original lovely leather seats are in excellent condition, the headlining is good, and all the instruments work well. The spoked steering wheel is in good order, lots of 1950's charm.
The engine bay is superbly finished, everything is clean and free of leaks or staining. The wiring is pristine too, and the car runs as sweetly as you'd expect from a rebuilt engine with little use. There is no evidence of wear in the gearbox or clutch. An unleaded fuel compatible cylinder has been fitted. A lovely car ready for a new owner. The mileage of 70,000 is thought to be correct.
