A FIRST WORLD WAR MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS. A Memorial Plaque named to John Exley Greenwood. John Greenwood was born in December 1898 in Yorkshire, he attested in 1916 for a Short Service Commission at the age of 17. A member of Leeds OTC for a short spell having being called up and posted to RFC as Air Mechanic First class. Later as probationary 2nd Lieutenant, he tragically died in a flying accident whilst training with No 52 training squadron, at Banockburn, on the 11th Sept 1917. He was 18 years old, he is buried at Brighouse Cemetery Yorkshire. Being under training on home soil he was not entitled to any medals. Mounted for display with copied research.
