Attributed to Matilda Jones (fl. 1825-1843) A miniature portrait of Mr Alfred Jones, circa 1837 wearing a dark jacket and white stock, seated at a writing table watercolour and bodycolour on ivory 11 x 8.5cm ref. no.: KQTMNC5Z the reverse bearing a paper label inscribed Alfred Jones. Bristol. This was exhibited at the Royal Academy. Sometime between 1837 and 10 years later. Painted by his sister. The Royal Academy catalogue of the 1838 Summer Exhibition lists a miniature portrait of a gentleman by Matilda Jones (entry 926), which may possibly refer to the present lot.
