An Indian lacquered hide shield, dhal, 19th c, of slightly convex form, the central red tooled roundel in cream and gilt surround on a green ground, in conforming border, the scarlet and gilt back with scarlet wool cushion and enarmes on iron rings secured by four domed and pierced copper bosses, 56cm diam

Provenance: Acquired in the 19th c and thence by descent in the Leicester-Warren family to the present vendors and latterly at Davenport House, Bridgnorth, Shropshire
