Bernie Marsden - Whitesnake era 1980 Greco Tele-Type electric guitar, made in Japan, ser. no. E805016; Body: natural finish with many dings to back and front and other surface wear throughout; Neck: replacement V profile maple neck; Frets: mild wear; Electrics: neck pickup in need of attention; Hardware: generally good; Case: Hiscox hard case; Weight: 3.71kg; Overall condition: fair
*One of several guitars given to Bernie Marsden by a Greco rep in Japan during a Whitesnake tour. The guitar was used in band rehearsals but Bernie cannot recall ever playing a show with it. The many large marks on the guitar are 'Due to too much alcohol and homesickness on the road when I used it for target practice with a throwing knife I bought in Germany!!'
This guitar appears on page 43 of Bernie's book 'Tales of Tone and Volume'. In the write-up for this guitar, Bernie states that he replaced the original neck with a Fender maple neck, however it is our opinion that the neck is not by Fender and appears to have held various different decals in its past. Please note: this guitar appears in the book with a Fender logo present, however this has been removed to comply with trademark laws
In untidy condition, having been defaced by BM, as per the stoy associated with the guitar. Origin of the neck unknown. 'Fender' decal that appears on the guitar in the book has been removed for legal sales reasons. See images for general guidance
