A pair of large Chinese carved hardwood buffalo groups, early 20th century, each well carved with the figure of a boy riding on the back of a recumbent buffalo, with glass inset eyes and bone inset teeth, on separate wood bases carved with pine branches, 49cm long, maximum height 27cm, broken and detached sections
The first Buffalo group has substantial breaks to both horns, both ears and its tail with most of the pieces present, age cracks to the timber in places. The second Buffalo group has a broken tip to its right horn but the piece is present and some age cracks noticeable to the back of the Buffalo, otherwise in reasonable condition.
