Large Japanese satsuma vase, Meiji (1868-1912), ovoid form with a wide neck and decorated with a panel of dignitaries opposing a panel of warriors, each bordered with the moulded wings of a phoenix, detailed in gilt and white enamel, the ground patterned in raised gilt and colours, impressed marks to the base, 46cm

There is some wear to the gilt at the extremities, particularly on the wings, head and tail of the phoenix. There is some gilt rubbing elsewhere.
No further damage detected.
