POSTMARKS OF PRAGUE - PRE-STAMP 1785-1849: A well written-up study of the early namestamps of Prague inc. the first hs on a 1785 EL posted to Wegstadtl with a faint but fine red s/l "Won Prag" in gothic script; a c.1818 E to Freyburg rated "36" in red on reverse with corresponding red cross on front indicating paid in full with a fine black 2 line "v:Prag/Frco" hs; an 1829 E to London rated "12" in red ms on reverse with corresponding single red line on front indicating part payment with fine black boxed "L.A." (letter autriche) & arc "v.Prag/Franco", and London "F.P.O." receipt cds on reverse; an 1849 E to London rated "3" in red ms on front for part payment to border and "2/2[d]" in black on arrival in London with fine black "Prag/26.FEB" hs on front and black Goerlitz & Hamburg cds, and red London cds on reverse; plus other fine hss plain or boxed/oval, all in excellent condition.
