HMS Amethyst Royal Navy Ratings Cap Tallies.

Eight examples of the Cap Tallies, representing probably the most famous Royal Navy war ship of the post war years. Five appear to be full length, three reduced. . . . .HMS Amethyst during the Chinese Civil War, was steaming along the Yangtze River, when she came under Chinese fire, stranded she suffered casualties. Later under the command of Lieut-Commander John Simon Kerans Amethyst weighed anchor and began her epic 104 mile dash for the open sea. The story immortalized in the epic 1957 film the Yangtze Incident staring Richard Todd.
