A collection of approximately 300 Donald McGill postcards, including some early examples of his work. This lot comprises 44 PCs from the Milton Comic Series (see first series), which are circa 1920s; 40 published by BB of London; 34 from the WB Series; 23 from the HB series (those with postmarks date from 1908-1922); 33 from the ES Series of London (of those with postmarks, most are dated 1906-12); and 35 cards printed in Holland (a number postally sent 1912-15). There are also five McGill cards of Portsmouth and Southsea; two novelty – a strike a match and a donkey barometer); and 56 cards either with no publisher name or lesser-known series, with one or not many cards from the Docks Series, MW Series, Go Well Series, Pioneer (x4) and a Woodbury Series etc. Two of the cards were noted with severe creases. Others have minor faults, such as edge knocks and corner creases – but a high percentage are in good condition.
