A RARE CORK 18TH CENTURY SILVER CELTIC POINT DINNER FORK BY SAMUEL REILY, circa 1790, the tip with engraved unicorn crest. Maker’s mark to the reverse SR for Samuel Reily. The silversmith was present at Daunt’s Bridge, Grand Parade in the late 18th century. Daunt’s Bridge spanned the canal along Tuckey’s Quay in the city – long since filled in. Today the name Daunt is found at Daunt Square to the upper end of Grand Parade. Dimensions of fork: 22cm long. Weight: 59grams.
