Levellers and English Civil War interest - 'The Discoverer. Wherein is set forth (to undeceive the nation) the reall plots and stratagems of Lieut. Col John Lilburn, Mr William Walwyn, Mr Thomas Prince, Mr Richard Overton and that partie...' published by the Authoritie and printed by Matthew Simmons in 1649. It contains a response from the Commonwealth administration to Leveller movement publications, (after the regicide of King Charles I, and the abolishment of the House of Lords). The pamphlet is widely believed to have been written by John Canne, possibly alongside John Hall, both admirers of John Milton. It is housed in a 20th century binding.
