RARE ON-COVER USAGE OF 1860 8pi ON BLUISH PAPER WITH 2as & 4as (6as 8pi RATE VIA FRANCE) EX MEERUT; Attractive 15 July 1863 env. ex Meerut "Via Marseilles" to Scotland with an unusual 3-Colour Franking made upo with the 4as Black, 2as Buff and the very elusive 8pi Purple on Blued Paper (very high cat. value even as a loose stamp), all tied by sender's ms "Stamped" and by light "MEERUTT/164" duplexes; there is a black boxed "TOO LATE" on the reverse and a very fine red boxed "INDIA/PAID" on the front.
