Re-enlisted on 10th November 1914, having served previously as Gunner 24106 from 24th January 1888 until discharged to pension on 19th November 1909. Posted to 28th Divisional Artillery on 28th November 1914. Landed in France on 16th January 1915. Returned to England (1B Reserve Brigade Royal Field Artillery) on 5th May 1915. Compulsory transferred to the Royal Garrison Artillery Anti-Aircraft Home Defence Command on 26th June 1918. Discharged 11th February 1919.
