A mid 19c eight day longcase clock, the 33cm arched painted dial signed John Wilson, Nuneaton and having Roman numerals, river scenes to the corners and a woman feeding chickens in the arch. The four pillar movement is rack striking on a bell and has matched brass hands. it is contained in an oak and mahogany case which has swan neck pediments to the hood and fluted columns flanking the dial. There is a band of floral inlay below the dial and the short trunk door has a wavy top and mahogany crossbanded edge and has fluted quarter columns flanking it. There is a fixed panel below the trunk door and the base has a raised panel to its centre and a small moulded plinth. The clock stands 213cm tall overall.

More Information

The movement seems complete but needs complete restoration. The dial has some marks near the winding holes but is generally not in bad condition. The case needs quite a lot of work to replace missing sections of moulding, stringing and veneers.
