Nicolas Despars' "Chronyke van Vlaenderen" is a significant historical work compiled by Despars, a renowned 16th-century chronicler (1522-1597) and mayor of Bruges.

The "Chronyke van Vlaenderen" was republished between 1726 and 1736 by Andreas Wyts, the city printer of Bruges. This edition was released in three volumes (spanning four physical books) under the comprehensive title "Chronyke van Vlaenderen Vervattende haere Vindinge, Naem, eerste Apostelen van het Christen Geloof, haer eerste Bestierders, Fondatien en Stichten." The chronicle begins in the year 621 AD and extends up to 1725 AD. The first volume is notably enriched with 33 wood-engraved portraits and a map of Flanders, while the entire series includes approximately 55 engraved textual illustrations.
