1797 copper proof pattern penny by W.J. Taylor after C.H. Kuchler. Obverse small bust as currency type, legend incuse on raised rim with wreath between two rosettes below. Reverse helmeted Britannia seated upon globe between two ships on horizon and date in exergue. Peck (BMC) 1083 Type KP2, UNC with a little red lustre remaining, the odd really tiny corrosion spot to the reverse field and insignificant minor contact marks o/w lovely proof surfaces with good cameo frosting. Rare & desirable.
