A good quality 40 bore flintlock boxlock pocket pistol by Sykes of Oxford c 1810, 6¼" overall, turn off barrel 1½" with engraved fern tip border around the muzzle, the signed breech with early Birmingham proofs; rounded frame engraved with trophies of arms; with top safety which secures the frizzen, raised pan, rollers on the frizzen spring, hidden trigger, and rounded chequered butt with silver escutcheon and engraved silver butt cap.
