A Victorian 2nd Life Guards officer's 1874 pattern "State" sword, blade 36" with hatchet point, the ricasso etched "B. GRACE Master Tailor" in foliate panel, the regulation pattern hilt having applied brass "2LG" cypher and crown, and fish skin covered grip, in its brass mounted steel scabbard. Basically GC (part of the brass cypher and grip wire missing, surface rust to scabbard, throat mount retaining screws missing). Although referred to by Robson as the 1874 pattern, he states that it was first mentioned in the 1872 Dress Regulations and that an example with hatchet point is known to be from 1860. £150-200
