THE BIBLE, Translated according to the Ebrew and Greeke, and conferred with the best translations in divers languages. 4to, Christopher Barker, 1581. Black Letter, printed in 2 columns, with notes. Geneva version bound in 2 volumes. First volume contains the Old Testament and Apocrypha, 2nd volume contains the New Testament followed by the Book of Common Prayer, Metrical Psalms by John Daye, 1581, and the concordances by Robert Herrey. Lacks a total of 9 leaves: General title (provided in facsimile); epistle to the reader and following 2 leaves; last leaf of the Apocrypha; Book of Common Prayer lacks title; Metrical Psalms lacks 2 leaves at end; Concordances lacks one leaf at end. Late 18th century half calf over marbled boards, boards detached. Good margins at fore-edge and bottom, cut closer at the top. Messy ink stain on last page of OT and facing page (first page of Apocrypha), perhaps where someone has tried to wash out or obliterate some old notes. Apocrypha title leaf has also been slit without loss. Herbert 170 (2)
