A Chinese Gilt-Bronze Mythical Beast Oil Lamp.
Cast in the form of a crouching mythical beast with prominent muscular haunches, clawed feet, and finely defined features, this bronze oil lamp is richly gilded. The creature grips a circular oil cup in its mouth, while a domed lidded reservoir rests atop its back.
