More Information

Figure of a slave kneeling right with yellow metal chain attaching wrist to ankle cuffs in relief, painted sailing ships at sea either side on a ceramic plate, legend above reads AM I NOT A MAN & A BROTHER., within a sealed yellow metal inner frame behind lead glass, all within an antique square wooden frame with ribbon and loop for mounting. Extremely Fine but some glue residue around chain to keep in place, glass cracked but medallion protected and without damage. A very popular and recognisable abolitionist symbol, very rare and especially so with the sailing ship variety.
