Anglo-Saxon zoomorphic terminal. Foot from a copper alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The brooch has a rectangular panel at the top which is broken presumably just after the bow. The rectangular panel is further divided into three smaller panels, each decorated with four incised transverse lines. A deep channel separates each panel. The foot is in the form of an animals head. The eyes or ears are depicted by a small moulding to either side whilst the forehead is decorated by two lines of punched crescents running down the centre. The nostrils are scroll-shaped and the snout is shovel shaped. The centre of the either nostril contains a circular hole. The reverse is plain. AD 500 - 550. 55mm x 24mm, 13.5g. Martin type 3.2.10, included in Martin 2015 as catalogue no. 829.
