Army Service Corps Officers helmet. A good and fine post 1901 example of the Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet, complete with gilt metal cross piece, ball and rose head bosses which secure the velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a gilt metal Kings Crown helmet plate of regimental pattern. Retains leather sweatband with cream net edging and ink name H.J.C. HAWKINS to the interior. Overall GC. No evidence of previous plate worn Attributed to Major Harold John Charlton Hawkins OBE who landed in France Second Lieutenant Transport Officer on the 6th December 1914.
