A Victorian mahogany microscope slide collectors cabinet, with receesed brass handle and glass door, 21 numbered drawers containing an extensive collection curated by local botanist and entomologist George West, mainly examples of fern, including Filices, Equisetales, Lepidodendron, Lyginodendrou, Sphenophyllium, etc, a total of 215 slides, bottom drawer contains a catalogue of sections of fossil plants and various beetle specimens housed in a cigarette tin, case size 28cm x 41cm x 30.5cm, there is also a large quantity of hand written notes and research compiled by George West relating to the compiling of the Geological slides themselves.
