A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 55147 Pte F. Hatcher M.G.C. and Memorial Plaque to Frank Hatcher. Frank Hatcher was the son of Mr and Mrs T. Hatcher of Romsey Road, King's Somborne, Winchester, he was born in King's Comborne and lived at Longparish. He enlisted at Andover and served with the 194th Coy the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) having formerly served as 25988 in the Hampshire Regiment. He was killed in action on the 14th April 1917, he was 27 years old. He is commemorated at the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm) south of Ypres, his headstone reads 'Though Death Divides Fond Memories Cling. Plaque in envelope and card cover, with a memorial card 'In loving memory of my dear Frank...'. *CR Plaque envelope tatty, normal surface rubbing to medals. A lot fee of £8 inc. VAT will be charged on top of the hammer price and BP on all lots.
