AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANGLO-INDIAN SILVER THREE-PIECE TEA SERVICE

Bombay, c.1910, in Madras Swami pattern, the set comprises a teapot, a milk jug and a twin-handled sugar bowl, each of compressed circular form upon a stepped circular foot, the handles are formed as elephants’ heads and trunks, with the teapot spout similarly shaped, the teapot features a hinged, gently domed lid surmounted by a cast finial in the form of a deity, the bodies are embossed with shaped vignettes of Hindu gods, interspersed with stylised rosettes and a ring punch chevron band.
