Note: Julia Margaret Cameron lived in Dimbola Lodge (now a museum and gallery) in Freshwater, Isle of Wight, from 1860 to 1875. Amongst her friends, known as the Freshwater Circle, were her near neighbour and Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson, the actress Ellen Terry, William Holman Hunt and Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson], author of Alice in Wonderland and many other bohemian writers, poets and artists.
