Two original wartime newspapers (WW2), one by the Daily Mirror dated 11th May 1940, and is in very good condition. This newspaper was published just one day after the Germans invaded Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and latterly France via the Ardennes during what became known as 'The Battle of France' ("Case Yellow" for the Germans).
The second newspaper is by News Chronicle, dated 16th August 1945, just one day after VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) which depicts the celebrations around the United Kingdom as the end of the Second World War draws to its conclusion. VJ Day in the 15th August 1945 is the date Japan ceased fighting in the Second World War, the official surrender was not received until 2nd September 1945.
