An early 20th century black lacquered sewing compendium, the japanned hinged cover decorated with raised pseudo- Oriental chinoiserie scenes of asthiatic pheseants under a blossoming prunus opens to reveal two compartmentalised trays for sewing objects, slide to the bottom, gilded temple scenes to frieze, turned supports decorated with flora and fauna, H-stretcher, on castors.
