FANCY GOLD-PRINTED ENVELOPE-LIKE LETTER-SHEET SENT FROM BISHOPS CASTLE (SHROPSHIRE); Very unusual 25 Feb. 1847 EL (specially designed with an envelope-like flap but made of a single small sheet) with fancy gold framed address-panel and flaps, sent from "Brockton" to Newtown prepaid 1d (red crayon "1") having a fair blue "BISHOPS CASTLE" cds on the front. The contents concern the writer's newly born son. Postally used examples of this kind of fancy letter are very rare before 1850. Exhibition Item.
