He did not show his work till late in his life, but his work was recognised by John Ruskin and John Singer Sargent who was inspired enough by his work to turn to watercolour. Elected to the Burlington Fine art Club alongside Gabriel Dante Rossetti.Work is held by many fine institutions including the V&A and The Tate.
