A large Japanese gilt and red lacquered bronze ‘shi-shi’ koro and cover, Edo period, boldly modelled with two shi-shi playing, the figure to the back's head removes to reveal the cavity of the vessel, unmarked, 24cm high, 25cm long

Losses and flaking to the lacquer consistent with age and use, possible old repair to the tip of one of the the shi-shi tails, otherwise in good condition.
