A PAIR OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY FAIRGROUND HOOPLA (OR ‘ROUND STALL’) SIDE PANELS.
Artwork by John Picket, who was best known for painting Romany wagons and caravans, and who did fairground items more rarely. Most likely used by Carters Steam Fair before being sold to Zippos Circus. They were used by Zippos Circus in the 1990s and early 2000s. Owned by TV magician, comedian and presenter Paul Zenon for the past 20 years, where they have been used at the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals as a ticketing booth for sideshows, amongst other things. h 76cm x w 134cm x d 4cm (+ fastenings)
