A French Ormolu Inkwell with Malachite and Green Gemstone Cabochons, 19th Century.
This opulent desk accessory features a raised hexagonal well surmounted by a hinged lid, inset with a polished malachite cabochon. Each side of the inkwell body is further embellished with alternating malachite and garnet cabochons, framed by delicately chased foliage motifs. Four seated putti figures—each uniquely posed—grace the corners of the stepped square base, which is supported by gilt ball feet. The lower border is intricately engraved with rococo-style scrollwork.
