BELGIUM - UNUSUAL ROUTE - BOXED "LEITH/SHIP LETTER" MARK ON COVER EX ANTWERP; 21 Nov. 1819 EL from "Antwerp" to Bannockburn but addressed via "Falkirk" (and so with fair "FALKIRK" boxed mileage - Missent usage - on reverse) and most unusually routed via Leith with a mainly very fine boxed "LEITH/SHIP LETTER" (scarce) on the front with matching boxed "Addl/½" mark. Interesting non-military contents ref. high prices of commodities ("provisions...much higher than they was formerly, Bread being now double the price than when the French were here."!). Rare thus. [See WB, p.89.]Cross Reference: SHIP LETTERS, BELGIUM, SCOTLAND, MILITARY - NAPOLEONIC WAR
