1921 'Abolition of Slavery' 6d red and dull blue-green, both of the unissued stamps with MCA and Script watermarks, opt 'SPECIMEN' for UPU distribution, each as a vertical strip of 3 (the former severed between the first and second stamps), neatly affixed to individual pieces from the Madagascar P.O. archive and tied by two strikes of the red 'POSTES ET TELEGRAPHES / COLLECTION DE BERNE / MADAGASCAR' large circular receiving H/S. The first (larger) piece from the top of a ledger page headed 'NUMERO 2235/143 EN DATE DU 20 Avril 1921 (Suite)' with page number '00004' in blue. A unique and wonderful pair of this famous stamp, prepared for use but unissued for political reasons, and in exceptional condition. SG 90s-91s
