A VICTORIAN 1827 PATTERN RIFLE REGIMENT SWORD MARKED FOR THE DEVON RIFLE VOLUNTEERS. With an 81.5cm pointed blade with three-quarter length fuller, etched with 'Devon Rifle Volunteers' and a slung bugle, the other side with VR monogramme, marked for J. Beer High Street, Exeter. The pierced steel guard with a strung bugle to the cartouche, with a wire wound shagreen grip, and stepped domed pommel. In a steel scabbard with twin ring suspension, 98cm overall *Condition: rubbing to sword blade, light pitting to scabbard especially towards the toe.
