SCARCE LOCAL COVER WITH STAMP-SHORTAGE 1c ON 10c BLUE SURCHARGE STRIP OF FOUR; Fine 5 Feb. 1923 local env. (to Harold Brooke Crocker, acting Resident & Judge; slightly reduced where roughly opened at left) with Jan. 1923 "ONE/cent" twin-lined surcharge on 10c Dull Blue Strip of Four (for the correct 4c letter rate) tied by two very fine "KUCHING" cds's. The next supply of 4c stamps (which had run out, hence the use of four 1c surcharges) was despatched from GB on 15 Dec. 1923, but were not apparently issued until 10 April.
