An interesting WW1 Medal Trio & Death Plaque to Able Seaman Herbert Edwards who started his
career in the Royal Navy as a Cabin Boy with several “Stone Frigates” (dry land establishments) until
HMS Birmingham as an Able Seaman in 1915 seeing action at the Battle of Jutland. He went to H.M.S
Vernon a “Stone Frigate” Shore Base for the Royal Navy Torpedo School. Some research and
newspaper cutting, along with the original medal boxes and packets that were in his 1914 Xmas gift tin
from Princess Mary, which would have contained chocolates & sweets as he was not old enough to
smoke.
