Indian School (19th Century) a set of three portrait miniatures depicting the Shah Jahan holding a flower and two various images of his wife Empress Mumtaz Mahal (in one she wears an elaborate headdress, the other wearing shawl with her right hand resting on her knee), approx 4.5 x 6cm, gouache, each in elaborately carved hardwood easel back frames (3)

NOTE: Shah Jahan was the fifth Mughal Emperor of India fuling from 1628 to 1658. His wife, Mumtaz Mahal was Mughal Empress from 1627 to 1631 and bore the emperor seven children, on her death Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for her, where he was eventually buried beside her.
