Thomas Bardwell (1704-1767) British. A Double Portrait of Lady Sophia and Lady Charlotte Fermor, Oil on canvas, In a carved giltwood frame, 16.25" x 20" (41.3 x 50.8cm). Notes: Lady Charlotte Finch (nee Fermor) (portrayed in a white dress) was the daughter of 1st Earl Pomfret of Easton Neston. She was appointed Governess to the Royal children. She married Hon William Finch and was the mother of George, 9th Earl of Winchilsea (co founder of Lord Cricket Ground). Sophia married Earl Granville in 1744. Another version, attributed to Enoch Seeman and without the landscape beyond, was sold at Sotheby's in 2008. There is a portrait of their parents Thomas Fermor, 1st Earl of Pomfret and Henrietta Louisa, Countess of Pomfret, by Thomas Bardwell in the Ashmolean Collection, Oxford
