A George III mahogany brass dial longcase clock The dial signed James Gordon, Perth The hood with cavetto cornice above a blind fretwork arch supported by turned 3/4 columns, the case with arched door and plain base box raised on bracket feet, the 12in brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter, subsidiary seconds dial below 12, calendar aperture above 6 and strike/silent dial to the arch, the eight-day movement with four knopped pillars, striking on a bell. With pendulum, two weights, winder and door key. 53cm wide x 27cm deep x 219cm high Footnote:James Gordon is recorded as a clockmaker in Perth, Scotland, active circa 1771-1796. Condition:• Hood: Minor cosmetic marks and signs of age. • Case: Generally good overall with some minor signs of age and use. Some light veneer splits to the base box. • Dial: Good. • Movement: Winds, sets, runs and strikes. • Ancillaries: Winder associated and very worn. Unless otherwise stated, all clocks are likely to have been serviced and/or repaired in their lifetime and may have had parts replaced.
