The original "Dog Ear" D.T engine that made its debut in late 1930 had seen regular "re incarnations" over the years. It appeared as the "long 5" in 1935, the "short 4" 1949, "4B" in 1966, "84.5" in 1972 and finally the "4V" in 1979.
